Make A Difference

Help someone out today, in some way.

You could help them with yard work, make them some cookies, watch their children,
but mostly just listen
be compassionate, and be available.

Priorities In Life

We spend too much time trying to keep up, with everything, everyone, and social media.

Our lives move very fast.

Too fast.

When we give in to keeping up with the world and the speed it moves at, we lose a lot.

We lose precious moments that can never be recaptured.

We lose memories that can never be relived.

We lose the ability to have meaningful conversations, face to face.

We lose relationships. We forget that real life friendships matter.

We lose joy.

We lose hope.

We forget that people matter because the tasks of busyness take over.

Take time to disconnect, slow down, and say no, to say yes to what really matters in life.

Weekend Challenge

Long weekend ahead.

Disconnect from technology and enjoy your family & friends.

Go outside, experience nature.

Go for a walk, have face to face conversations, make precious memories.

Life is short, so live every moment out without regrets.

At the end of your life, you will not wish you had spent more time on social media, watching TV, or playing video games.

LIFE IS ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS, spend time with people face to face and build real relationships.

The Dance

I don’t want to miss the dance.  I get hung up on so many things in life,  worrying about what I will never do or achieve or have. But I don’t want to miss the dance. I want to love my spouse, care for my kids, and give life to my friends. I want to do the work God made me to do. I want   to love God and the world he made. I want to do my part to help it flourish, for my spiritual maturity is not measured by following rules. “The me God made me to be” is measured by my capacity to love. When we live in love, we flourish. That is the dance.
– John Ortberg, The Me I want to Be

How many times do we miss the dance?
How many times do we turn away, quit trying, because we’re tired,  lonely, or forgot why we                         even cared in the first place?
The world can be a difficult place to live at times. We need each other.
God wants us to love each other, serve each other.  He is asking us to dance without fear, so take                     the first step and enjoy the dance.

Advice From A Friend

The following is advice from a friend of ours, only in his early 40's, who is in a battle with ALS:

"Don't spend your day tied up with electronics. Go out and see the beauty of nature! Unplug and enjoy the moments."

"Your family deserves the best you, you can be."

"Never miss a chance to laugh or say I'm sorry.  Never hold back your tears, they are cleansing. Never ever miss a chance to say I love you."

"Life is full of choices. For instance: my prognosis is death but I see it as an ETA. It's all in how you view it. You have to make a choice!"

Live each moment of your life, don't waste it on electronics.  Love deeply.  Laugh.  Forgive.  Apologize.  Don't take one moment of life, family, faith for granted.

Let. It. Go

Worry strips away joy.  Worry puts us in a false reality, often making things worse than they truly are.  Worry destroys our lives.

Today, decide to let worry go.  Push it out of your life, and close and lock the door behind it.  Work hard to keep it out of your life.  As soon as you find worry creeping back in, actively take steps to overcome it, and send it out of your life.

Focus instead on joy, love, laughter, and gratefully live every moment of this life you are given. Live with purpose and passion, and leave loving footprints on the lives of everyone you encounter.

Speak Life

Do your words speak life or death?

Do you encourage or discourage, lift up or put down?

Words cut, hurt, destroy OR words inspire, help, build up.

Choose
words
with care,

use wisdom,

and speak in love.

To others.

To yourself.

Love The Ones Your With

Make a difference...

Give true love  & love fully those

in your life.

  Whether it’s your spouse, friends,

siblings, parents, family members, or

children –

let them know you love them.

We can become so comfortable in their

presence, we can treat the ones we love

with less respect than we would a

complete stranger.

What can you do today to let those

special ones in your life know they’re

appreciated and

most importantly, loved?

Beauty in the Ordinary

Anyone can love a rose, but it takes a lot to love a leaf.  It's ordinary to love the beautiful, but it's beautiful to love the ordinary.

The Legacy of My Friend

Five years ago today, a dear friend of mine lost her battle with cancer.  She was only in her early 30's, so her life, as we expect it to be anyway, was cut very short.  My friend taught me some amazing lessons as she fought the disease for six years.

Don't live in the past, it's over, so let it be.  Don't live in the future because you aren't guaranteed anything more than today.  Live fully in today.  Don't waste the moments you are given, because each is precious.  Love those around.    Smile.  Even if you are struggling, care deeply about other people because everyone goes through rough patches in life.  Be an encouragement in the life you live, the words you say.  Love deeply.  Spend time with those you love and make beautiful memories, even in the simple, every day moments.  Cherish the people in your life.  Don't let tasks come before spending time with those you care about.  Tasks are just tasks, loving people is what truly matters.  Love and trust God.  Fall in love with all He is, and know He will take care of you because He loves you.  Deeply cherish your family. Speak kind and encouraging words.  Say I love you's, I appreciate you, you matter to me, and live that out. Words are just words if they are not followed by actions. Live a simple, quiet life.  Show people respect. Make sure to tell people how much they mean to you because tomorrow may be too late.  Look around you, and see the beauty of each day.  See the gifts God placed in your day, and enjoy them.  Creation is filled with His gifts.

She didn't live like she was dying.  Cancer wasn't her focus, life was her focus.  Her family was her focus.  Living a life pleasing to God was her focus.  Encouraging and loving others was her focus.  Even though there were days that overwhelmed her with sickness and pain, she lived with a deep joy.  Her quiet life touched so many.  She is deeply missed and loved, but she left an amazing legacy in each life she touched.  We all should strive to be a little more like her, because the world would be a much better place if we lived life as she did.

Take A Risk

Sorry for the absence.  My computer is down, the logic board is fried.  Hopefully, there will be a replacement soon!  I hope you have been following my posts on Facebook or Twitter, as I have been able to keep them up from my phone.

There are a lot of people needing someone to reach out to them.  We can make a difference in what we do and say to others.  Are you willing to impact lives, to reach out and show others you care?  This quote is powerful.  I challenge you, as I challenge myself, to not just read it and think it was great, but to take actions and make a difference in others lives.  Take a risk and reach out.  Get out of your comfort zone and be the change you want to see in the world.  You are here for a purpose, you have gifts no one else has, and you can reach people others cannot.  Don't wait around for others to step in, jump in yourself and truly impact others lives in a good way.  Be kind, be gracious, lend a helping hand, and take time to listen.  Leave a positive imprint on every life you touch.  When you live your life in this way, not only do you bless others, but you will be blessed because you gave of yourself.

Christmas Week

One week until Christmas.  What is your focus right now?  Is it on all the things that have to be done yet?  Are you stressed out, grouchy, overwhelmed?  Do you feel like crying, instead of being filled with joy?  If so, your focus needs to shift.  Christmas is simply about love and hope.  We are the ones who have made it about overdoing on gifts, decorating, overspending, running ourselves ragged until we are ready to explode from stress.

Have you taken time to stop, enjoy, and breathe?  Have you enjoyed the season by walking in the snow, laughing with children, looking at Christmas lights, listening to uplifting Christmas music, watching your favorite Christmas movie, or reading Luke 2 in the Bible?  It can be difficult to focus on the real reason for this Season...Christ's birth, followed by family, and sharing love with others.  I challenge you in the next week to take time to breathe, to laugh, to stop and be still.  Take time to focus on love with those around you.  Time with loved ones is precious, don't miss the opportunity to make memories together.

When you think back over Christmas memories, what stands out to you?  Is it the gifts you received or the way you felt because someone took time to love, to give, to invest in you? My best memories are on simple things like decorating the tree as a family while listening to Christmas music, baking cookies and making candy with my mom, sister, and my Gram when she would visit during the holidays.  Also, driving around and looking at Christmas lights on homes, and attending Christmas eve services together as a family and focusing on the real reason for Christmas, Jesus, are times that are precious to me and forever in my memory.

Where is your focus?  Take some time to be quiet, and enjoy the peace that this season represents.  Make memories with loved ones.  Find your hope in Jesus.

Merry Christmas!
